The Clean Up effort in September was again held with the support of the Palmerston North City Council to correspond with World Clean up day September 13th. Groups that wished to adopt an area to clean up contacted Ann Heaphy (06) 357 9018 to register and obtain bags and gloves.
Urban Care organised Street Pride 2004 in February. The competition was to reward Palmerston North residents who take time and pride in their gardens. Residents were invited to share their hard work and D I Y skills with the community.
All that was needed was for the entrant to take a photo of it and send it in with their entry form.
Residents were also being asked to take a look around the city and vote for a street they favoured in their Ward.
Zero Waste Day
Another Urban Care initiative encourages the public to bring stuff that is too good to dump to a site in each Ward of Palmerston North where others might find it of use to them. This happens two times a year and the only charge is a donation to Foodbank.
