Friday September 9: Jo Ross - Sustainable suburbs?
"Compact urban form and residential intensification is seen by many as the answer to urban sprawl and critical to urban sustainability; but are compact cities achieving the environmental outcomes sought, and are suburbs really as bad as they are perceived? Literature suggests there are pros and cons to both residential intensification and suburban development. [...] What is clear is the need to question what residents’ value and why, as well as how these outcomes can be delivered sustainably in the context of the region within which they live."
