September Spring Clean Up - Our Region
Urban Care is organising another clean up but the this time it is for the whole month, not just a week. Supported by PNCC, bags and gloves will be made available if you register your interest with Ann Heaphy 357 9018. There's a Prize draw as well. See poster:  Clean Up September.doc(52.50 KB)

September Beautification Competitions

Thursday 2 September
Botanical Society monthly meeting. Kahurangi National Park - Jill Rapson will talk about the botany of the 120 km area she tramped over the New Year and show some slides. Meet in Ecology common room, Massey University at 7.30pm. Phone Jill at 350 5799, ext 7963 for more information.

Friday 3 September
First Friday Bike Ride to promote cycle awareness. Meet at 5pm by the Clocktower in the Square for a 20 minute cruise through the town centre of Palmerston North.  FirstFridays1.pdf(67.10 KB)

Friday 10 September
Palmerston North City Environmental Trust "Green Screen Awards" ceremony held at Te Manawa from 7pm. Public are invited to view the latest in local environmental videos. For more information contact Christine (06) 354 2088.

Manawatu Estuary Trust Clean up at the Manawatu River mouth. Meet at the Rotary shelter before the Camping ground at 10am. For more information contact Joan Leckie 06 368 1277

Tuesday 14 September
Manawatu Forest and Bird monthly meeting - Maori development and conservation by Todd Taiepa (PNCC). All welcome. Held at Te Manawa (Science Centre) at 7.30pm. Contact Donald Kerr for more information, phone 952 7000.

Public Lecture: "Purchasing for People and the Planet," by Lisa Mastny of Worldwatch Institute. One hour starting at 10am in Missoula room at Palmerston North City Council and sponsored by the PN City Environmental Trust and Massey University's School for the Environment. Manawatu Estuary Trust AGM - 2pm at  Dawick Street Hall, Foxton Beach. Special guest speaker: David Lawrie, Chair of both Wetland New Zealand and the Mirandar Trust in the Firth of Thames. Mike Swann, architect at Proarch in Palmerston North, will also be showing plans of the proposed visitor centre. The meeting will be followed by an opportunity to enjoy the birds and the estuary.
