Friday 1 October
First Friday Bike Ride to promote cycle awareness. Meet at 5pm by the Clocktower in the Square for a 20 minute cruise through the town centre of Palmerston North. FirstFridays1.pdf(67.10 KB)

Saturday 2 October
Ashhurst Action Group - volunteers needed for fundraising at Ashhurst Craft Fair helping with the Cafe. Starting at 8am at the Village Valley Centre in Ashhurst. For more information contact Harvey Jones, phone 3269 189

Saturday 2 October
Manawatu Botanical Society - Wairarapa Wanderings. A loop day trip to Puketoi Range, Pongaroa and Ngapairuru Reserves.  Car-pooling available. Full day departing at 9am from PNCC car park on Church Street. Bring lunch. For more information contact Jill on (06) 350 5799, ext 7963

Friends of the Ashhurst Domain Wetland are holding a working bee from 9.30am. If you are interested in joining in meet at the Domain office with boots and gloves for tree releasing. For more information contact Tom or Bill on 3268 608

Sunday 3 October
Kiwi Conservation Club (KCC) will be planting Hebes at Oxenhams Bush, Kahuterawa Valley, Sunday 3rd October, 11 am to 2 pm. New members (ages 5 - 12) and their family welcome. Meeting at the Kahuterawa Reserve, on Kahuterawa Valley Road at 11 am. Bring a parent, spade, a change of clothes, gumboots, empty ice-cream container, your hebe cuttings that we made at the Esplanade in May and lunch. For more information contact Anna on 357 7996.

Ecology Seminar Series - Kate McArthur – Summary talks -"Temporal and Spatial patterns of freshwater macroinvertebrates in the Manawatu-Wanganui Region from 1999 to 2003... and other stories" Jessica Costall – Proposal talk - "Getting up close and personal with the native venomous spider Latrodectus katipo: an investigation of its population dynamics and ecology."
