Wednesday 3 November
Cycle Aware Palmerston North (CAPN) is holding its regular monthly meeting 5.15 - 6.15pm in the City Library Public meeting room. Items on agenda include a review of 2004 and plans for Bikewise Week, February 12-20, 2005. If you would like to join in contact Christine Cheyne, 356 9099.

Wednesday 3 November
Public meeting at 7.30 pm with IAN EWEN-STREET PUBLIC MEETING RE: FLOOD PROTECTION. Green MP visits Ashhurst seeking feedback and information on flood protection. Held at the Ashhurst Village Community Centre. For more information contact Terry Kelly on (06)356 9099.

Tuesday 9 November
Manawatu Forest and Bird monthly meeting, Saddleback on Ulva Island (off Stewart), and Robins on Pitt Island (Chathams) by Kate Steffens - as Masters thesis, now DOC ranger in PN. Wednesday 10 November
Department of Conservation are holding a PINK RAGWORT PULLING AT TAWHIRIHOE SCIENTIFIC RESERVE TANGIMOANA BEACH. Meet at the carpark at Tangimoana Beach and we will transport you to the control areas. Bring your hands and an appetite ( we will put on a BBQ lunch) but BYO drinks/sunhat /sunscreen etc "Several weeds threaten to overrun this important Palmerston North coastal reserve if not checked. Pink Ragwort, a south African daisy, is threatening rare and endangered native plants. It is a recent arrival to the area and needs to be hand pulled to keep it under control." DOC will provide limited transport from the Palmerston North AO on Tremaine Ave if required, plus a Barbeque lunch. Departure time from the Palmerston North office is 9.30am and return at approximately 4pm. If you think you can help please email jpriestley@doc.govt.nz or phone 3509700 and ask for Jo.

The Manawatu District Council is introducing its process for community consultation in regard to setting the community outcomes for its LTCCP. If you feel that you can contribute to the stewardship of the Manawatu region then you are welcome to register your interest to attend this meeting starting at 7pm in the Manawatu District Council building in Feilding. Pit Park Working Party - A Park For the Community being developed By the Community. Everyone most welcome to come to release the recently planted trees from spring weeds and to mulch them. Starting at 1.30pm with a cuppa at 3pm. You will need to bring a sunhat, sunscreen and gloves. For more information contact Marise on 354 0062.

Welcome to the Birds at the Manawatu Estuary. An open day with the Manawatu Estuary Trust to view the various migratory birds that are resting and feeding over the summer at the River estuary at Foxton, with some bird watching expertise available.
