Sunday 2 January Foxton Beach market day held at Dawick Street Hall and grounds from 9am, where the Manawatu Estuary Trust educational CD Rom "Exploring the Manawatu Estuary" will be available for $30.
Sunday 16 January Pit Park Third Sunday Working Party from 1 to 3pm. Meet at carpark from Featherston Street entrance to the Pit Park. Weeding and mulching so bring gloves. Cuppa at 3pm. Wednesday 2 February World Wetland Day at Ashhurst Domain. Bring your picnic and come on a guided tour of the local wetland with the Friends of the Ashhurst Domain Wetland after 5pm. Meet at the Wetland Viewing Platform. For more information contact Bill Phillips on 06 3268 608
Friday 4 February "First Friday" Bike Ride to promote cycle awareness. Meet at 5pm by the Clocktower in the Square for a 20 minute cruise through the town centre of Palmerston North.
Saturday 5 February Pukepuke Lagoon Open day - "Weaving connections" organised by the Department of Conservation. Lots of activities and items of interest after 12 midday. Look out for details. A tour bus ($5) will leave the I-Site at 9am to visit both Lake Papaitonga and Pukepuke Lagoon to allow you to participate in the World Wetland Day celebrations, returning at 4pm. Bookings required. Monday 7 February Water Programme of Action consultation meeting. The Ministry for the Environment will be holding this meeting at the Convention Centre at 7pm to support their discussion document, "Freshwater for a Sustainable Future." All welcome. Wednesday 23 February New Zealand Association of Environmental Educators (NZAEE) meeting being held in the Esplanade Education Centre starting at 3.30pm.
