Living Lightly your body your wallet our planet 4 Wednesdays in April 2009 (and one Thursday!) So get a group of workmates together and come along to take part or get involved with the business house challenges associated with the active transport events on the 8th and the 29th of the month (see iMove Workplaces at Sport Manawatu) Click on the links above to go straight to the events of interest to you or scroll down to view them all. Waste Not, Want Not Day Wednesday, 1st April, 12-1pm, opposite the i-Site in the Square It’s no joke, A team of intrepid waste warriors will sort through bags of household waste to find out just how much waste could be diverted from those rubbish bags.Come and watch! Households correctly keeping recyclable and organic waste out of their rubbish bag will be in with a chance to be handsomely rewarded. But it’s not just about watching others. Make up a team with some of your workmates to sort through a bag of CLEAN recyclables to test your skill at correctly separating them into different types. Prizes are up for grabs for the most accurate and fastest sorters. Guess the weights and numbers of recyclable items in various containers to win other prizes. Hear about the couple in Christchurch who each produced only a kilogram of waste that had to be landfilled last year. They recently had a party for 100 people to celebrate and produced no waste doing that either. Learn about ways to decrease the amount of rubbish you create and send to the landfill
