Private Bush Restoration
The river terrace bush remnant near Mangaweka has a variety of species including some very old podocarps (Totara, Matai, Rimu and Kahikatea) and Red Beech. Unfortunately Sycamore trees have invaded much of the bush.
Forest and Bird periodically organise work parties to weed out Sycamores in the 2.5 hectares, which have been shut off from stock.
Workparty members can stay in the colonial homestead and enjoy a lovely bit of old valley history.
