Garden
- Find out about pest weeds and remove them. Do not generate the spread of recognised weed pests with your generosity.
- Compost your food scraps to make a natural fertilizer for your yard and garden.
- Donate bulky yard debris and leaves to community compost or garden projects.
- Use grass clippings as a lawn mulch.
- Keep outdoor equipment such as grills, furniture, and tools out of the rain.
- Reuse old lumber and other building supplies for small carpentry projects.
- Use a hand mower instead of a petrol one. In half an hour a 4-stroke mower emits as much pollution as a 1995 car in 160km of mixed driving and you do not need to the gym.
- Water the garden in the evening when evaporation is less.
- Use a compost bin for the garden (avoid meat scraps which may attract animals). Not putting greenwaste in landfills reduces leachate and methane production.
- Don't incinerate rubbish.
