1. Description of ENM

Environment Network Manawatu Inc. (ENM) is the connecting web for local environmental groups. View our current members

The Network, consisting of a representative from each of the member groups, is administered as an Incorporated Society by a Management Committee, elected from these representatives. The ENM Management Committee and all ENM representatives will meet at least four times a year. 

Management Committee for 2011-2012 consists of Murali Gopalan, Manawatu Tram Trust (Chair), Bruce Bulloch, Farm Forestry (Treasurer) and Sharon Stevens, RECAP (Secretary), with Committee members Kheng Lim, Murray Kirk, Trisia Farrelly, Beth Tolley, Stewart Harrex and Geraldine Holmes. 

Minutes of the meetings can be viewed in the Members Only section or members may request a copy from the Environmental Coordinator.

2. Purpose of ENM

AIM: To promote a network of collective community action to realise a vision of an enhanced Manawatu environment.

OBJECTIVES:      To -

  • coordinate and communicate the efforts of the member groups to enhance the local environment
  • act as a central point of access to environmental information
  • advocate for ecological sustainability and matters of agreed environmental significance
  • work in partnership with Iwi to recognise kaitiakitanga and environmental aims and objectives in common
  • liaise with similar organisations elsewhere in New Zealand and around the world as appropriate, to source and share ideas for environmental projects and issues

3. Acknowledgements for Support to ENM

  • Palmerston North City Council (PNCC)

    PNCC Logo

    The PNCC has provided, for the Environmental Coordinator, salary funding support since 2001 as well as office accommodation. This partnership has benefited ENM and Palmerston North and is much appreciated by ENM and the community.
     
  • horizons3SPOT.jpgHorizons Regional Council (HRC) provided a grant in 2005 and has an interim contract with the Coordinator to oversee its Environmental Education programmes until July 2006.
  • The Square Trust provided funding for a Notebook computer to allow the Coordinator to work in flexible workspaces.
  • The Square Trust provided emergency funding in 2004 to allow the Coordinator to continue in her role while other funding was being pursued.
  • The Lion Foundation for much needed salary funding early in 2005.
  • Community Employment Group (CEG)
    CEG provided funding support for the salary and employment related expenses of the Environmental Coordinator and this website until June 30 2004.
  • The Manawatu Tree Trust, PNCC and PNC Environmental Trust also provided funds to ensure the establishment of this website.
