We've made it easy to hear from local candidates about their environmental views. We invited every candidate standing in Palmerston North, Rangitīkei, Wairarapa, Te Tai Hauāuru and Ikaroa-Rāwhiti to answer three questions. Their answers are below, unedited and in their own words. If you don't see a candidate here, it's because we didn't receive a response from them, not because they were left out.
These videos make it easy to hear their environmental views, from the comfort of your own home.
Videos are listed as they come in, not in order of importance or preference. We haven't edited or endorsed any response, this page is simply a way to hear where candidates stand, so you can make an informed decision.
The three questions:
- What do you see as the three most important environmental challenges over the next decade, and what role should the Government play in addressing them?
- How does Te Tiriti o Waitangi inform your approach to environmental policy, and what does meaningful partnership with Tangata Whenua look like in practice?
- Community environment hubs deliver significant environmental and community benefits, yet many face uncertain funding. Will your party reinstate and increase the Community Environment Fund to $3 million a year, so these hubs can continue this work?
